Last year, it was Lenovo taking over IBM’s PC.
Now we are bidding Maytag and Unocal.
Some perceive Haier’s bid for Maytag as an attack on America’s industrial heartland in the midwest. And CNOOC’s (中国海洋石油有限公司) US$18.5 billion cash offer for Unocal which owns substantial energy assets in Asia will inevitably generate a lot of political interests.
